2019 Mississippi Wing Professional Development Weekend
March 29 - March 31
The 2019 Mississippi Wing Professional Development Weekend will be held at the Mississippi Wing Headquarters from 29 – 31 March 2019.
The Mississippi Wing will be offering the following courses:
- Squadron Leadership School (SLS)
- Corporate Learning Course (CLC)
- Unit Commanders Course (UCC)
All Senior members interested in attending one of these courses can REGISTER on Eventbrite; links are provided within each course description below.
Please note the UCC begins on Friday, a day earlier than SLS and UCC.
Squadron Leadership School (SLS)
Purpose: The SLS is designed to enhance a senior member’s performance at the squadron level and to increase understanding of the basic function of a squadron and how to improve squadron operations.
Needed for: SLS is needed for completion of Level II.
Prerequisites: Completion of Level I and enrollment in one or more specialty tracks.
Date & Time: SLS will start at 0900 hrs. on 30 March 2019 and end at 1300 hrs. on 31 March 2019.

Corporate Learning Course (CLC)
About: The CLC is designed to explain how a wing operates in each of CAP’s major mission elements and how mission support functions support these mission elements. Armed with this knowledge, senior members can learn how they and their respective organizations can best support the wing and fulfill the corporate role of CAP.
Needed for: CLC is needed for completion of Level III.
Prerequisites: Completion of SLS.
Date & Time: CLC will start at 0900 hrs. on 30 March 2019 and end at 1300 hrs. on 31 March 2019.

Unit Commanders Course (UCC)
About: This course provides expert advice and guidance on leadership, management and ethics in a standardized format for the training of current and potential squadron commanders throughout the Civil Air Patrol. Squadron commanders are responsible for providing local leadership, administering programs, and managing the volunteer members in the field as they perform the critical missions of the Civil Air Patrol as well as provide support to the United States Air Force as the official Air Force Auxiliary.
Date & Time: UCC will start at 1700 on 29 March 2019 and end at 1300 hrs. on 31 March 2019.

Additional Event Information
For all courses being offered, course materials will be provided at the start of class. It is encouraged to bring personal laptops for some sections of the courses.
The uniform for Friday and Saturday will be CAP Corporate Field Uniform, or CAP Corporate Working Uniform in accordance with CAP Manual 39-1 and Interim Change Letters.
The uniform for Sunday will be USAF Blue Service Uniform (Class B) without tie or CAP Aviator Shirt uniform without tie in accordance with CAP Manual 39-1 and Interim Change Letters.
If you wish for Graduation you can wear the USAF Service Dress Uniform (Class A), USAF Blue Service Uniform (Class B) with tie, CAP Corporate Service Dress Uniform, or CAP Aviator Shirt Uniform with tie in accordance with CAP Manual 39-1 and Interim Change Letters.
No Flight Suit authorized for wear during the courses!!!! NO EXEMPTIONS!!!!!
We need Instructors for SLS, CLC, and UCC. If any Senior member has attended any of the previous courses, they can serve as an Instructor. To instruct, they have had to be a graduate of the course they are wanting to teach. Instructing completes one of the requirements required to complete LV 4 & LV 5 of the Senior member program.
We are also in need for a course Director for CLC. Being a course Director is a requirement to complete LV 4 & LV 5 of the Senior member program.
Those that are interested to teach a class from any of the above mentioned course can find the teach material on e-servicers, under Professional Development courses (SLS, CLC, UCC).
