Mississippi Wing - CAP

Y'all Rock!!

As I come to the end of my term as your commander, I am constantly reminded of just how proud I am of your many wonderful accomplishments over these past four years. Each of you contributed to the safe and successful execution of our missions, while maintaining the highest standards and in the finest traditions of the Mississippi Wing and Civil Air Patrol. There are no words to adequately express my gratitude to you all. However, I will simply say that it has been an honor and a privilege to have had this opportunity to serve with you.

Though it is only natural to look back, I am even more excited by our future. 2017 has already begun with the bar being raised higher once again. We will face inevitable challenges; but, I remain confident in your skills, professionalism and dedication to meet those challenges head on. Soon we will also have the great privilege of welcoming our next wing commander.  I do hope you will all join me on May 6th as I officially hand over command and be the first to introduce you to our next boss!

For now, I would like to thank you one final time from the bottom of my heart for your selfless service, dedication and loyalty to our amazing wing.

Yours very sincerely,

Col. Mallory D. “Mal” Woodcock, CAP

Commander, Mississippi Wing

The Special Relationship - the UK and the USA

Bill Henry welcomed by Tony Cowan
The Special Relationship
Many of us, particularly those who have served in the military, will recognise the ‘special relationship’ that binds our two great countries, the UK and the USA, together.  Particularly as we remember the liberation of Europe and the D-Day landings that took place 70 years ago in Normandy, France. This ‘special relationship’ also extends to the Civil Air Patrol in both countries. One of the UK CAP’s most recent recruits is Bill Henry who is also a member of The US CAP Mississippi Wing.  Bill is resident in the UK this summer and he will now pursue his CAP activities on this side of the ‘pond’.  The attached photograph shows Bill being welcomed on board the UK CAP by the Chairman, Tony Cowan at Aero Expo, one of the UK’s premier aviation events. Further information about the UK CAP may be found at www.ukcivilairpatrol.co.uk
