CAP Aircraft Radio Guides

Each CAP FM aircraft radio guide contains a (landscape orientation) channelization guide and basic operation guide for the respective CAP-FM radios in the aircraft. The channelization guide (created by LtCol Bennett) lists the channel number for both radio models, display as seen on the screen, and a title description of the respective channel. Please note, standardization is still ongoing. For the channels listed as 'PORT' and for all of the fixed repeater channels, not all acft will display the word 'PORT' or the name of the city (i.e. JACK) for the repeaters, but the actual channel and 'R' numbers are accurate. Also, the repeater channels for the Greenwood, Hattiesburg, and Stennis repeater stations in the system do not exist now, but may be available in the future

The right side of the page contains a basic user guide for the respective radio. Credit goes to the WAWG for the original template, which has been revised to reflect the narrowband transition. Squadrons with aircraft custodian responsibility, may want to include the guide in the Aircraft Information File

When printed on 8-1/2 x 11, and folded down the middle, with the channel list facing up, the user can place holes on the left margin, this will keep the open side of the fold closed when placed in a ringed kneeboard. These holes will be on the right margin of the user guide, allowing for easy reference between sides (It's a page turner!).

This is the Wing's latest attempt to condense the information into a format that is easy and convenient to use. Please contact Maj Riddle with likes/dislikes, errors (if any), or other suggestions. This is your usage guide, and as such should benefit everyone. If requested, Maj Riddle will re-size the original to fit into an AF-style checklist page.

The setup guide for the airborne repeater system is a practical, step-by-step guide on the installation and operation of the unit in a CAP aircraft.

All three documents are great tools every Mission Observer should keep in their flying kit!
